I think it is really sad that we have come to the place in this nation where the red tape is so thick that one must hire "experts" just to keep the establishment from ripping us off. It is true in many other arenas, not only in healthcare.... God help us all!

I have heard nothing but praise for Trudy's ability to cut through the medical profession's billing errors, outrageous pricing and billing methodology. She works magic in behalf of patients who are getting nowhere with hospital billing offices who treat them as second rate citizens. One of her clients told me that a hospital was making life tough and would not help help her understand and pay for the high medical bill for an emergency room visit. My friend's income was only $600.00/mo. Trudy went to bat for her and got the $3,000.00 bill paid in full. My friend delt with her and was surprised by her wealth of knowledge and personal caring.

One hospital I went to for a reaction to a medication kept me waiting for 8 hours, did nothing more than a blood test, for which I did not get the results, and provided me with no services, because after 8 hours I left with the chills from the excessive air conditioning. I felt cold, clammy and uncomfortable in my skin for the next 24 hours, despite the fact that it was July and the air conditioning in my house was not working. Yes, I got billed for this!

My name is Barbara Melman and I have operated "Claim Relief, Inc." for 25 years.
It is amazing what individuals are billed for that they don't owe. It is wonderful to know that around the country there are business's like mine to assist all of those who during the most difficult times of their lives are inundated with medical bills. The problems can come from either the insurance end or the provider end and it takes a lot of work and effort to get it all straightened out. It is still, after 25 years, the best feeling to help someone during such a time.
Hats off and congratualations to all of the advocates out there who are doing this very difficult but rewarding job.

We ran into the same problem when our 2 yr old son was diagnosed with a rare cancer. The hospital that was in-network had very little experience with this type of cancer and clearly did not know what to do, so we transferred him to a hospital with a specialist. Because of that decision, my son is alive and in first grade today. However, the out of network charges started piling up, and at one point exceeded 80K. We had boxes and boxes of insurance paperwork that I could not address because I was too busy taking care of my extremely sick son. Finally, I found a billing advocate through a social services agency. She attacked the problem from several angles, and after about 6 months succeeded in getting most of those charges erased. She saved us from bankruptcy and was utterly worth her fee.
