my son with down syndrome is healthy

yh 4:42PM March 07, 2011

One likely outcome of having Down's Syndrome testing done earlier and more easily is that parents to be will feel compelled to end the pregnancy.

As the mother of an exceptionally, beautiful, sweet 10 month old boy with DS, I can't imagine my life without him. Most pregnacies where DS is identified end up aborted.

While I did grieve a bit when I got the diagnosis, after my son was born, he became David, my baby boy, a person -- not just a diagnosis. He makes us laugh every day. I wish I had a way to let parents to be know not to let DS be an automatic "deal breaker". My son has not needed any really "special" care so to speak. He is developing just slightly behind other babies in his age range, but he was also a month premature. However, each case is unique. Just be sure to do your own research. Speak with parents of DS kids(not just your doctor who may not have much experience with raising DS Children.) (Sorry for the long post, but this needs to be said.)

When I worked for a mental health rehabilitation facility (FH) in northern new jersey we were able to -Observe- clients full time and we stumbled across a way for pregnant women to use -Prenatal- care that might stop Down Syndrone and other genetic disorders from happening? Similar to the story of -Lorenzo's Oil- and the total failure of the experts to look into how high levels -Natural Serotonin- might be able to stop genetic disorders from happening? We were able to reduce the severity of mental disorder and stop all kinds of -Suicides- by increasing the levels of natural serotonin in the mental health clients???

that is a miscarriage rate of .05% for a CVS

The accuracy rate of a CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling) is actually 99%. The miscarriage rate can be as low as 5% depending on where you have it done. You can get the procedure as early as 10 weeks.

This is a really big deal! The old tests have a 1% to 2% chance of killing the baby versus a 0.2% chance of the baby having Downs. That means that the test kills 10 health children for each unhealthy one it finds.
