I'm glad to know about the risks associated with even lose doses of hormones. I'm 49, not yet facing the hot flashes--still hoping I won't have to since my mother didn't. But even if I do, I'm pretty sure I will do all I can to avoid taking them! Great article! Thanks!

From what I've researched is that over 85% of women have problems with issues like night sweats. I know I did and many of my friends and clients. I'm thankful to for Cool-jams wicking pajamas. They really do help to thermal regulate the body.

The WHI study used synthetic hormones (conjugated equine estrogens and medroxyprogesterone). We cannot assume that bioidentical hormones would result in the same outcomes.

But even if they did, the increased risk of certain conditions was very very small. 28 out of 10,000 ??? That's a fraction of 1%. And what do you get in return for a possible risk? Freedom from oppressive hot flashes and other debilitating symptoms, which for most women means leading a normal happy life again.

I'm using bioidentical hormones. I used progesterone alone for several years and got great benefit from it, including total remission of palpitations, vastly improved sleep, and regulation of my cycle. After the menopausal transition I started using bioidentical estradiol, which nearly completely wiped out my hot flashes and other related symptoms. I also got an unexpected but very welcomed mood lift from the estradiol. I feel good now, I sleep quite well, I feel motivated, I have only a few hot flashes per day and they are so minimal and brief I barely notice them. My life is SO much better with bioidentical hormones than without. Isn't that important?
