What is causing the women's poor quality sleep to begin with??

While the study confirms what I experience in my own marriage, I have to ask if the funding was well spent. I mean, really, let's ask ourselves: Am I pissed off at the world the day after a crappy night's sleep? Um, yes. Duh.

Many variables have either not been explored or not presented in this article. "Sleep problems" is a pretty general term--did the study examine and categorize which type of sleep problems were presented by the subjects (i.e. sleep apnea, etc)? Did the study even explore the possible origins of the sleep problems (physical, emotional, or both?) Furthermore, the study does not even posit a guess to the negative outcome for men--like possibly dying of sleep apnea, which would surely put a damper on a marriage. Perhaps it should be recommended that men develop their ability to express emotions rather than putting the onus on women to keep their marriages afloat by suppressing their emotions.

A very common cause of sleep disturbance in women is hormonal imbalance - from PMS, menopause, or any number of other things. That means it's something that RECURS - sometimes monthly or even nightly. If she's tossing and turning while he's snoring away blissfully night after night (which might also disturb her sleep) - and she has other PMS symptoms on top of it - heck yes, there's going to be trouble!
