(HealthDay News) -- Our careers and busy lifestyles are leaving many of us sleep deprived.

The National Sleep Foundation says there's nothing wrong with a daily nap to help you feel more relaxed and rested. It offers these recommendations:

  • A nap should last no longer than 30 minutes.
  • Nap in an environment that's cool, dark and quiet.
  • Don't nap too late in the day. Doing so could interfere with bedtime.
  • Don't try to nap too early in the day, as your body may not welcome more sleep so soon after you woke up.
