Many times I've gone to asleep on a problem and had it answered in most simple and practical way on awakening.

I have always solved problems while asleep. I used to put the book I was going to be tested on under my pillow the night before the test. This was in my school days.

In reading Petchkovsky's article "Jung in the 21st century; a neurobiological project" he states:

"Mark Solms (SOLMS) observes that people who have had bilateral mesial-prefrontal leucotomy (a vital part of the D2 pathways) retain REM functions but can no longer dream !"

It would be interesting to further isolate the effects of dreaming from the effects of REM sleep.

Just an idea.
