I have watched my husband for many years, try to truly stop smoking. The impulses are overwhelming for him. He loves his family and friends. He knows if he does not stop soon, he will probably die from health issues. Why can'nt this strong man, able to do anything...but put the cigeratte down... stop??

It's beyond my understanding or his true effects to quit this terrible habit. He has tired everything but accupuncturist. The prayer, patches, and support has not helped. What's in this drug? Why does it have a strong hold on my husband? Why is it legall, and what's to stop it?

I'm 66 and have smoked for 53 years. I have quit in the past and did well till life got in the way and Now I'm trying again.

I have COPD, its not nice and on 02.Cancer is not an option for me, along with all of the other problems that are real

The most honest thing I can say is, if you smoke Quit Now before it is too late for you.

I will do it this time. Thanks for listening

After many years of smoking and quitting and smoking again I used a book by Alan Carr; Easy Way to Stop Smoking and Wellbutrin(cause its been around awhile). The book (which I had to read 3 times to really absorb) gives you the DUH! you need to mentally prepare to quit and the medication gives you the break from the anxiety you may feel while preparing for this gift you are giving yourself. Nobody is going to give you a prize for quitting and some people (smokers) are going to be jealous that you are so freakin happy to not HAVE to put that thing in your mouth anymore. Smokers are the minority and once you realize your own freedom and can see that being religated to an "area" to smoke well that sucks more. Be happy! Not a slave to smoking!! See it for what it is.. Go for it!

Quitting sucks, just like the stupid commercials say. I stopped smoking on the 4th of January cold turkey... and IT SUCKS. I took Chantix like the people in the story, but within 2 days I wanted to kill myself and didn't know if I was awake or dreaming.

The only thing that I can say (that I do say to myself when the urge hits me) is that NOT smoking when "it" sucks, or you're bored NEVER KILLED ANYONE! Just apologize if you freak out on someone and let them know that you're trying to stop... nobody in their right mind is going to stay mad at you if you're trying to stop smoking...

I smoked for many years but now I have quit. My reasons for quitting

punishment tax for stupid habit like smoking

cancers

low sex drive

bad smell

constant guilt of consecutive suicide by smoking

and above all, cigarrette is the highest zero-sum purchase you could make. Not only that you will get no value in return for your money but death.
