I was hypnotized on February 23,2007 and am happy to say that i have only had one instance of backsliding! i have been smoke free for over 2 years other than my single weak moment. Hypnosis works IF you want it to! Since cigarettes are approximately $5 a pack now I don't mind spending the extra on buying healthy foods instead of destroying my health!

I successfully used this technique 10 years ago, and I will never smoke again (I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker). It's actually very simple!

1. Just tell yourself before going to sleep at night that you will stop smoking FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, beginning the next morning when you wake up. Promise yourself that you will do this, and believe whole-heartedly that you will succeed. HOWEVER, Also tell yourself that if you fail, THERE IS NO BLAME.

2. Mostly likely, you will wake up the next morning and sooner or later have a cigarette. NO BLAME! Simply resolve to REPEAT Step # 1 before you go to sleep that night.

3. Do this consistently every day for 3 months in a row (saying to yourself: I'm going to stop smoking tomorrow for the rest of my life, but no blame if I don't succeed tomorrow). After about 3 months, day you will wake up and not want a cigarette, knowing that you will never want to smoke again in your life!!! IT REALLY WORKS!!

Yes, hypnosis can induce the abatement of the nicotine habit at least for a short time. It took a reflection of the mindset 30 days after hypnosis to awaken to the fact I had quit for 24 hours and realize I could do it again for a longer period. Finally free of the two pack-a-day habit that nearly destroyed my lungs.

I have found that hypnotherapy was quite helpful in several aspects of my life, mainly helping me to achieve both my short and long-term goals. My Hypnotherapist, who is also a M.D., told me a story about a 15 year old who couldn’t eat solid food his whole life. There was nothing physically stopping him from eating solids it was just that he and his mind had re-trained his digestive track to not process solid food. He had tried every medical treatment available; yet was never able to eat solids. My Hypnotherapist, after receiving a referral, worked with him and was able to help "rewire" his mind to process solid foods.

I was able to find my Hypnotherapist using the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis member referral database. It was suggested that I find a licensed healthcare practitioner who met minimum standards for training and education in the use of clinical hypnosis and has met all the regulatory requirements for practice in their state/province so they could attend to any, although unlikely, problems that could arise while I was "under". Check 'em out at www.asch.net/referrals.asp

9 years ago I was a pack a day smoker. When I decided to quit I went to the patch and ended up with a rash, then I tried the gum and my mouth swelled. tried the pill and I could not sleep. So decided to try hypnosis as a last ditch effort. After my session I walked out and lit up and felt like I wasted my money! However 2 weeks late I was in the garage with my hubby(our smoking place away from the kids)And he pointed out I wasnt smoking. Then I relized it had been 3 days! Wow! After I was smke free a year I became a hypnotherapist to help others stop smoking.

Hypnosis works and it is safe and effective

I am a proud to say that I quit 5 months and 22 days ago; through will power and the help of this site.....http://whyquit.com

Cigarette Smoking isn't a Habit; it's an addiction where you are dependant on tobacco; in which you point out.

"Smokers trying to quit sometimes use nicotine patches to fight their tobacco dependence."

So I think your Article title and your sentence seem to contradict each other
