Although Arthritis is incurable,it is certainly manageable.I suffered for many years with stiffness and pain, even total loss of mobility for a short time. But finally after some intense phisiotherapy, strict diet and exercise,i reached my ideal weight, that was 4 years ago.I stretched, walked and danced my way through some fairly bad flare-ups.The pain was at times severe, but i pushed myself hard everyday & overall,my condition improved and became much easier to manage.

Then came the depression.I stopped my exercising, stopped dieting. The weight came back, and now i am heavier than i have ever been.Once again stiffness and pain have taken over my life.

I am back to square one.I don't know if i have the stamina to bounce back, but i have to try, because i know it works.

It's great we're making progress, but sad we're ignoring such obvious and easy solutions that can help. It only makes sense to lose the weight that is a major contributing factor to wear and tear in osteoarthritis.

Exercise is also crucial. It releases endorphins which not only make you feel better, but act as one of the body's natural pain killers. Exercise may seem counter-intuitive to someone suffering from arthritis, but it is a major component of treating OA and RA as well as other forms of arthritis such as fibromyalgia.
