Romantic Love: Nature's Painkiller?

I am 61 and have had chronic pain for 35 years. When in a relationship as I am now, two factors affect my pain dramatically: being in love and distraction with any number of things from thinking of my adult children and how to support and love them to enjoying a nice meal. I also find that when distracted by very negative issues such as when road rage is perpetrated on me, I feel more withdrawn and in pain. Love truly is the answer, true love not pretending. Love can be seeing a small child enjoying looking at a flower or holding hands with my sweetheart. It can also be just going out and helping someone when no one is watching and that I have found is truly an amazing analgesic.

Todd Rundgren put it best in his song Light of the world, shine on me, Love is the answer. Shine on our soul. Set us free. Love is the answer. :)
