well sorry coke,pepsi,7up drinkers of anykind of sodapop!! i lost 35 lbs in 6 mo, not drinking the stuff,, why cant those makers make a good grape drink for the same price as 1 can or liter of soda, why put all that sugar, the bad kind into your body,,, try something good,, we all know coke will destroy a spoon left in a cup of soda,,think of whats it doing to your gut,,,comeon,,,we would go to the doctor less,,,think of this ,,did jesus drink pop??? not 1 drop,,, so you are what you eat,,stop the pop!!!! youll see how much better you feel at the end of the day,, also use a large exercise ball under your lower back for the support of sit ups!!! it works you can adjust the fulcrum point by simply rolling the ball to center in your back easier to near your tailend, for more extream work, you can adjust it as you get tired,, just block the sides of the ball so it dosent roll around,,start at 10 mins a day and work up to an hour, then go ride a bike, you watch the pounds come off, its work granted but in 6 mons youll feel 18 again,,, try it thanks

Great article Debora! A view of what is most important. Johnny srves us lots of good info that is rarely available.
I have researched this for 20years and will add a few points that I hope are helpful to your readers.
"Environment & Molecules" The environment that turns on genetic predispositions to disease is the environment of our cells. The cell environment is molecular. Only molecules (submicroscopic size) make it out of our guts. So it is helpful to look at food as containers of molecules. The containers we eat may contain food molecules that are necessary for life, also ones that can be used but not necessary and those that are not nececessary and adverse. It turns out that dietary fructose is in the not necessary and adverse category. In anything but small amounts (? 15grams or less per day)fructose can trigger disease predispositions. So consider reducing the more than 100grams or more per day average. Because of the huge amounts of unnecessary dietary fructose... it has become our major public health problem. It will continue to be until it is openly discussed. Currently such discussions are avoided because they are "inconvienient".
"Inflamation & Glycation"
Advanced Glycation End Products (AGE) in body are of several types. The most adverse are formed from lysine and glyceraldehyde. One researcher calls them TAGE for Toxic AGE. Glyceraldehye is a 3 carbon sugar and is the most reactive in the body. It comes from dietary fructose or fructose formed from glucose when blood glucose is abnormal (Diabetes). TAGE is a problem for 2 or more reasons. Our inate immune system recognizes it as a foreign invader and responds with inflamation via receptors for AGE (RAGE) which form on affected cells. Glyceraldehyde is also pro VegF and cause abnormal levels of VegF. VegF system anomalies are felt to trigger over 70 diseases.
"Exercise"
Exercise helps in many ways. It keeps bood glucose lower, thus reduces intracellular fructose and glyceraldehyde production. Glyceraldyhyde can react (Glycate) directly with vital cell proteins or escape to form TAGE with serum lysine. So exercise and avoid dietary fructose. Exercise to muscle exhaustion if done correctly has no down sides and via afferent neves tells brain to put out growth hormone and other repair factors. Look into this if you think walkin and jogging are all there is.
