Hi william, the bible does not clearly state that Jesus ate meat, he served fish to his followers but the bible does not state that Jesus ate or partook in it. Seventh day adventists are not forbiddent to eat meat. I eat meat and im seventh day adventist. the main thing the bible forbids us to eat are UNCLEAN MEATS. Do a scientific study and compare the meat of a cow to that of a pigs. Everything that sdas do are cofounded from the bible, if thats not the case then why do you think that studies ae poving showing that ou lifestyle is the way to go. try it for just one week you will find yourself feeling really good. Our bodies are the temple, let us take care of them like they are.

The point to focus on is not just diet. It doesn't say "EAT like an SDA". It says "LIVE like an SDA" Based on external studies, the concepts of health, diet, community involvement, family focus and faith all have health boosting effects. made a few points about the way things were

Seventh-day Adventists (SDAs) have a good public relations program to tout their good health. In fact, we are no healthier than any other nonsmoking population with the exception of Christian Scientists who live about two years less, most likely because they eschew medical care.

SDA-health boosters compare the group to the general population which makes us look better than if compared to Mormons, or clean-living groups. Now that 150 years of pulling in converts by scaring people about the end of the world has lost its impact, the new approach is selling the healthy SDA lifestyle. I believe in and practice healthful living but it is not my religion and it is neither the road to salvation or a fit witness of Christianity.

Jesus ate meat, served it to others, and declared that the kingdom of heaven is not food and drink. Paul said one can eat anything with thanks to God, and Timothy warned about false teachers in the last days who would forbid eating meat. If the story of the fall of man is allegory, vegetarian, animal-rights enthusiasts are the inheritors of Cain, the first murderer.

The MOST basic tenet of Seventh-day Adventist is keeping the 7Day Sabbath (Saturday). and belief in Jesus. Thats where the blessing of long life is. There are many people and other religions that cherish the body and have a similar lifestyle.

From the article:

" Strong evidence suggests that people who have high blood levels of certain nutrients—selenium, beta-carotene, vitamins C and E—age much better and have a slower rate of cognitive decline. Unfortunately, there's no evidence that taking pills with these nutrients provides those antiaging benefits. "

No! There is very little evidence that higher levels of the nutrients in the blood provide benefit compared to taking the pills. All the best, largest, and most frequent studies of nutrients is in the pill form. For example HUGE studies have proven that taking selenium, vitamin D3, vit C, as PILLS each, independently, cut the risk of death by 30% by preventing heart disease (vit C) and cancer (selenium and vit D). This are just 3 examples. The literature is flooded with proof of the benefit of nutritional PILLS.

Good article. Thanks for the information. Most people

know the good habits. I also think you inherit a part of

the genes that determine lifespan, so pick your parents

carefully!

Thom Adams of SC 4:55PM February 24, 2009

Yes, health habits are important. While it's true that some lucky ones out there just have good genes despite abusing their health, most of us will be helped if we follow some basic health rules. At the very least, we can keep our minds sharp, our teeth clean, our bodies in shape and our blood sugar levels steady.

One thing people should never ignore is their attitude about the aging process. A good attitude goes a long, long way towards healthy aging!
