I think that we should be worrying more about bad parenting.parenting is very important when it comes to a childs development.when a child is loved and taken care of they are more likely to be a good child/ student.but when it comes to a child who is far from loved and isnt taken care of in the right maner there will be bad consequences.there will be drugs/sex/not doing well in school.i see it everyday in my high school.not only are young girls pregnant they are sleeping with everyone doing drugs and drinking every weekend.to me i see that as a result of a parent not paying enough attention to there child and they people they hang out with.

We used spanking as a form of discipline for our younger daughter as nothing else worked. From the age of 2, she would literally tell us "Go ahead & put me in time out, I'm going to keep doing it as soon as I get out." Spanking has to be controlled though, it can't be done out of anger, and they have to understand why they're being spanked. Lashing out & hitting them is abuse.

I think our older daughter has been spanked once in her life. Positive reinforcements have always worked very well with her.

Lying, deceiving, experimenting ... all fairly normal behaviors of a teenager, especially if the parents are strict and not good listeners. Kids will be honest with their parents, but only if the parents react to it properly. Once the reaction is negative, the child is pretty much driven to lie. The key is walking the fine line between too much tolerance and too little.

Also, "raising you children in church" was one of the mistakes my parents made with me and my siblings. Force-feeding "church" down a kids throat almost always makes them despise it. My parents forced all of us to go to church, religious school and all of that stuff and all it did was convince us to run as far away from the church as possible as soon as we were old enough.

With my own kids, I'm going to let them make their own decisions on religion. If they want my advice and guidance I will gladly give it. You can't force faith anyway (so many parents get that wrong).
