Is Irene serious? The article is about altruism, unselfish concern for the welfare of others. People who refuse vaccinations for their children (possibly out of a concern about autism) could be considered to be selfish rather than altruistic.

It is about altruism... immunize for the good of all if not for yourself.

Irene, there is nothing wrong with the article about autism and the headline--the whole point is that it is "altruistic" to get your kids vaccinated because it helps the whole community.
This was so obvious I am amazed that you misunderstood it. Where did you learn to read?

...how selfish and petty people have gotten as evidenced by the above comment.

I couldn't believe my eyes. What kind of proofreader mistakes altruism for autism?
And why when only wanting to print the story on food poisoning, am I not permitted to eliminate the unwanted articles on sexuality and 'altruism'? I had to use two sheets of paper instead of one, and had to try to copy the US News logotype which used a lot of ink for something that is not beneficial either to me or to US News... Why not consider how much better it would be to let readers decide what they want to print? I know it would make me a bigger fan of USN. Instead I have two 'irritating' pages for an eight sentence article!!
