2. Needing Statins

While millions of Americans take statins and other cholesterol-lowering medications to reduce the risk of having heart attacks, the study eliminated those who took these drugs from the low-risk category. What this means is that you still have a lower risk of heart disease if you have naturally low cholesterol levels rather than a level lowered into a "healthy" range by medication.
