In the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the amount of adulterated substances found in ecstasy pills. Substances like Piperazine and amphetamine are pressed into pills and sold as ecstasy. Many of the pills on the street do not contain any MDMA at all.

The Multdisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is currently conducting studies into the benefits of MDMA./
