My husband had a stress test and cardiac cath in 2004 that ended up in a quintuple bypass. It seems that many times since that surgery, his cardiologist says he sees something on the stress test and then sends my husband for a card cath, which shows nothing. He is sending him once again on Fri. Nov 11, only 3 days after a stress test. My husband's ins said they will not cover because it was too soon after stress test to know for sure if med. nec. The cardiologist has asked my husband to go to hospital on Friday anyway, through ER and tell them he is having chest pains, so that he can still perform the cardiac cath as planned. This does not feel ethical to us, but I am afraid to push back in case something is really wrong with my husband's heart. Isnt this inurance fraud? I feel that if this test was really medically necessary, then the cardiologist could have a consult with a medical director at the insurance company to get approval.
