This is a classic case of the "PR" rhetoric that pervades medical research today! The pharmaceutical companies sponsoring this research do it to gain an easy bonanza by grabbing the tail of an already approved drug and tying it to treatment of widespread (and controversial)

pathologies. Statins are expensive (read profitable) and have a significantly high incidence of side effects. Ibuprofin alone will reduce urinary tract inflammation.
