Sorry - should have done a better job of proofing that list. Here it is again.
Don't be poor. If you can't quit, try not to be poor for long.
Don't have poor parents
Own a car.
Don't live in low quality housing in high crime neighborhoods where your kids get exposed to drug dealers and low life.
Don't lose your job.
If you can, get a job that isn't too stressful.
Be able to afford a relaxing vacation in a warm climate.
Practice not losing your job or being unemployed.
Don't live in a polluted place.
Make sure you get all the benefits you can.
Make sure you know how to fill out complicated forms in the event you need help from private or public agencies.

You don't seem to talk about the loss of jobs during the last 8 years. While the country voted for change, stop believing the ones that are flaming the dissent on AM radio. Let's see what happens before you think this country is Socialist. And remember, it was Bush that NEVER vetoed a spending bill and signed the TARP bill.
personally, I think we DO need more regulation, especially on Wall Street and with large corporations. Look what has happened and tell me you would want this train wreck of an economy to continue.
Obama has been in office for less than 3 weeks, and all of a sudden the country is going Socialist and it's the Dem's fault...that is laughable.
Let's see how the Reps do in the next election. Right now they have no one in Congress in the Northeast, and only 5 states can truly be called "red" at this moment. If it gets as bad as you say, that will change back. Meantime, now you know what it was like to watch Bush for 8 years as he gutted the regulation and gave huge tax breaks to the rich. That seemed to have helped a lot, eh?
The sky is not falling, unless you think like the ones that preach on the radio and on Fox.

Having lost my job seven years ago, and only making a meager income by PT teaching, and being a single person, I try my best to do a lot of the suggestions that appeared in the article.
But, having exhausted my "COBRA" option, the suggestion about don't skimp health care rings hollow and annoying, to say the least! I am one of those 42 million-odd people without insurance. Even the Free Clinic is trying to pass the buck by asking me to go for a needed colonoscopy!
Not having the health care itself creates another cycle of stress! the fat cats in Washington DC are like Nero -- twiddling around and going on ego-trips and not caring for the poor soul like me! Shame on them!

Here's where the rubber meets the road.
America voted in a socialist.
Trust me, with the Dems in charge all of you will be working more hours to make ends meet--but really those extra hours are for all those "good-hearted" politicians.
The masses won't make the connection but this is what happens under the left--more work, smaller paychecks, less freedom, less time with your family and on, and on.
With the Dems "stimulus" bill and all the "bailouts" the dollar in your pocket, or bank account is now worth significantly less than it was.
We're paying for all of the bad loans that the Dems gave to those who didn't deserve them and enticed and sometimes plain forced the lending institutions to lend.
Welcome to just the beginning of a socialist US--you won't like the rest of their plans either when they finally reach your paycheck, family and loved-ones.
Elections have consequences.
THIS is just the beginning of the "sacrifice" that 0bama has been talking about.

When work hours are long - you need to find new ways to exercise. Granted you may not have 1 hr for the gym but 5 mins several times a day can help. Search for office exercises. If nothing else do breathing exercises. There is a study of yoga devoted to breathing exercises. Or try laughing yoga. Or sing. These are not ideal options but I feel like 30 seconds of exercise is better than no exercise. Shame on the people who just criticize without trying to offer options.

"What?
With this economy and with everyone losing their jobs i have to work from 10-15 hrs a day because were short staffed at work and why do you think people like me are supposed to do if there is no time to go to the gym or the spa?"
if you've got enought time to go online or watch tv, you've got time to exercise. it's pretty simple: exercise or die.
