6 Ways to Reduce Inflammation—Without a Statin or a Heart Test

I am amazed that U.S. doctors aren't taught that the first line of defense in any illness (other than acute health threats) should be the simple things - foods, vitamins, herbals, exercise, "strange but true" treatments that are non-hazardous yet for unknown (so far) reasons do the job. My own father was diagnosed with diabetes, and I asked him if the doctor told him about all of the vitamins and supplements that are proven blood-sugar lowering substances. He didn't even know what I was talking about - because the doctor just gave him drugs (and the diet and exercise info). Why should people take drugs first, drugs that always have side-effects, when we have so much proven, experimentally tested knowledge about less dangerous routes of treatment? I'm sure no one would suggest paying money for a product that might cause a hurtful side-effect when they could help someone save money and their future health by giving them a free or cheap tip for better health. I'm sure a few doctors feel tha they were taught the "right thing" and want to do the "right thing" - but, if our doctors are supposed to be the intellectually gifted of our society, I think that most of them have probably figured out the truth for themselves by now. Of course, it is hard to "buck the system" - the AMA, Big Pharma, Big Business, Big Government - with it's big clumsy dirty grasping fingers in everybody's elses pies - like education, licensing, regulations, ... and amny other places it has no constitutional right to be. Ain't I a happy guy! TKD3

Here in India, I prescribe ordinary baking soda to lower fat lipids in the blood. Simply take 3 teaspoons to an 240 ml glass of distilled h20 after eating. That will naturally lower your chol level. Stay away from vegetables unless they are organically grown, since they are now a "hybrid" of genetically altered food which accelarates the inflame response. best of health, dr Halpsupue

ISNT ANYONE HEARING THE GUY WHO WROTE ABOVE. HIS CK LEVELS ARE SKY HIGH WHEN HE TAKES ANYTHING TO LOWER HIS CHOLESTEROL....LIKE STATINS...THAT IS CALLED RHABDOMYOLYSIS. THAT IS BASICALLY TEARING APART OF THE HEART MUSCLE. HOW TWO MD'S COULD ALLOW THAT AND NOT TAKE HIM OFF THOSE MEDS AND NOT TRY MORE IS BEYOND ME.

I AM ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO GOT RHABDOMYOLYSIS. IT WILL KILL YOU. LUCKILY I AM SENSITIVE TO MY BODY AND I NOTICED THE SIGNS, AFTER 2 WEEKS ON MEVACOR. IF I HADNT, I WOULD HAVE DAMAGED MY HEART IRREPARABLY..ALL TO GET MY CHOLESTEROL DOWN. HERE IS THE CLINCHER. MY MOTHER HAS BEEN ALIVE AND VERY WELL WITH HER CHOLESTEROL IN THE 300'S. SHE WILL BE 97 NEXT MONTH. REMEMBER, IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT NUMBERS, DONT JUST SWALLOW STATINS, THEY DO MORE DAMAGE THAN RHABDOMYOLYSIS. THEY ALSO ARE VERY HELPFUL TO SOME. SOME CANNOT TAKE THEM, HOWEVER, AT ALL, EVER.

I agree with the post on whole foods. There are also ways that you can reduce inflammation through supplementation. Of course, start with a healthy diet, but in addition to that Vitamin D reduces inflammation, as well as my favorite vitamin, Quercetin. I take it with Bromelain for added absorption. Quercetin is a very potent anti-inflammatory agent, it is found in the skins of fruit, apples, oranges, etc.

I've been researching inflammation for several months now (read: Research on medical studies, not regurgitated information) and anything that will spike your insulin will cause inflammation. Coffee, sugar, carbs (yes, even those precious whole grains everyone SWEARS are necessary).

I got rid of all insulin spiking foods and my eczema went away, tendinitis no longer flairs up, etc.

Eating whole foods, with good fats raises healthy cholesterol. Fat has YET to be proven as a cause for calcification of the arteries. In fact, too much calcium without sufficient magnesium will cause calcification of the arteries (read: too much calcium (dairy?) and not enough cruciferous vegetables = heart disease?).

Yet main-stream media like this, only regurgitates this type of junk articles.

Sorry, but do some research. Statins are making things worse. They lower your good cholesterol too, which is very dangerous! What ever happened to Good, Whole Food, including ALL of the animal?!
