Obviously EXPOSURE to sun light with clothes on is of almost no help in geting Vitamin D-- because it needs a reaction to occur at the skin and one would not like to keep facing the sun in daytime.

Does having Type II diabetes increase the need for prolonged in-the-sun time for the activation of vitaminD production?

Will I get sun damage, even though I wear sunscreen, from UVA rays coming through the windshield?

That is quite false! I have burnt many many times through a car window with and without sun screen. I always have one arm on my body that is more burnt and the freckles darker because of the car!

I recently read from a book I have that was published in 1999 that after a suntan is established, vitamin D production through the skin stops. Is this true?

I would like to know when it would be best in middle eastern countries to get maximum dose of Uv-B ? And also what about the seasonal variation?

I bet a lot of problems, sleep "disorders" in particular, can be traced to not enough sunlightexaccerbated by too much late night screen time.

The proof is in my hands! My ancient looking (very fair skinned) hands became that way from driving in the car without sunblock on them. You most certainly can burn through the closed windows.

In addition, my left arm has more accumulated sun damage over the years as well as many more freckles (and now age spots). What's more, in my younger years before I wore sunblock, my left arm would always be sunburned (red) after longer car rides.

Just wanted to clear that up. My whole family agrees as we all have sun damage from the car - particularily our hands and forearms. Fair skin doesn't take long or much to burn it.
