Just got LASIK surgery done at http://hillcountryeyecenter.com and was googling for post-surgery tips and this was a great resource. Thanks!

Be concerned about your safety! Avoid the complications of Lasik by being prepared which you can do by checking out a site like safelasikguide [ . ] com or something similar and read everything you can before even thinking about getting the surgery!
Thank's

Beware if you are considering LASIK and you are near 40 years old.
After you correct the far vision, you will *instantly* lose your near vision!!!
After the surgery doctors will say this happens because your muscles are not as flexible
as younger people. Well, its too late, isn't it?
So be ready to wear glasses to see near items.
Remember you may need glasses to read labels on yiur shampoo bottle while you are in shower.
Are you willing to wear glasses to do *all* your near work?
Ask the doctor about this 25 times and try to get truth out of him before you say "yes" to LASIK.
Otherwise just say NO to LASIK.

I agree with "Dennis of TN" above. Dr. Wang in Nashville, TN is one of the best LASIK doctors in the world. In fact, people come from all over the world to see him for help with difficult LASIK problems. I asked him a question on his website (www.wangvisioninstitute.com) and he responded personally! No other doctor I've seen has ever done that!
As this article says, if you want to avoid being a dissatisfied LASIK patient, then you need to go to the best place, and from all the research I've done Dr. Wang is clearly such a place.

Lasik & Lasek. Two different types of proceedures. I had the Lasek surgery about 5 years ago and could't be happier. Had to wait for about 3-4 months for my eyes to totally adjust but that is normal and now everything is perfect. I opted for mono-vision and now the only glasses I buy are sunglasses. Would do it again.

Had lasik about 3 months ago and I'm not pleased at all with my decision thus far. After reading through the various different internet forums and articles after the fact I now realize that is was the most reckless decision I've made in my life. Especially since my correction was only a mild one. Currently I'm in constant pain, it's the most annoying when I try to read or work on the computer but it never stops even when I sleep. Figure it will be extremely hard to forgive myself. It's so hard to think positively about the future, I'm trying but it's hard.
I have an extreme feeling of loss, my vision is worse off than it was previous to lasik and then there's the extreme pain. The only place I feel comfortable right now is in bed with my eyes closed. I can't socialize anymore and I can't real work.
Guilt is another major problem I've been dealing with, I feel so stupid for letting somebody do this to me and the fact that I paid them to do this to me. I can't talk to any friends about this because I'm so embarrassed by the whole situation and feel they'll think I'm completely nuts for having undergone the procedure.
I'm really scared about what the future will be, may have extreme difficulties at work and away from work. I don't think I'm going to enjoy many of the simple pleasures of life like I used to anymore.
Hopefully my eyes will improve. I've been seeing a counsellor and a psychologist so hopefully some of my dealings with them will allow me to cope better with the whole situation
