The media never takes the time to differentiate between the two types of diabetes! They simply state that "it is on the rise". Type I is an autoimmune disease that can NOT be prevented. It is triggered by a virus or other environmental factors. You are insulin dependent from the start. Type II is a metabolic condition that is triggered by obesity and other factors. It is controlled mostly by diet and medication (pills). It is Type II only can can go on for years undetected. Please use responsibility when covering these types of stories. Misinformation is detrimental to all the small children being diagnosed with juvenile (Type I) diabetes. They did not bring this health problem onto themselves. They have to live with several fingerpricks and shots daily. The media owes them the courtesy of researching the facts between these very different diseases.

Eugene N and Hessam, this article is not a diagnosis, it's a way to get people to go to the doctor for a diagnosis. Notwithstanding your score on this simple test, you will never go wrong by having an appointment with your doctor and asking them about your risk of diabetes...

Vivix is a cellular anti-aging product offered by Shaklee. Yes I am a distributor so therefore I do sell Vivix but the proof is in the pudding and there's a CD I'd gladly send to anyone that contains scientific information about this patent-pending product and many testimonies on how it has helped them. Vivix is unlike any other resveratrol product out there because it is not just resveratrol. Its is the most potent form of resveratrol plus a blend of 12 other polyphenols.

As with all of Shaklee's products, they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

You may contact me through my website at www.greensheree.myshaklee.com.

Thanks!

My elder daughter (25 years old) is an insulin-dependent (type I) person. I am 72 years old. Does it mean I am likely to be an undiagnosed diabetic ?

I've heard of a new blood test on the market that tells you what your actual five-year risk of diabetes is. It looks at your own biology and doesn't suggest risk based upon group statistics. I believe it is called the PreDx Score. Your doctor needs to order it.

One thing I recommend for maintaining a healthy weight is the Vidazorb chewable probiotics. Our family loves them and takes them every day and I have read a lot on probiotics and their benefits since they helped our son with his food allergies and Eczema! These are even safe for diabetics according to their site!
