I am so relieved to see that some one is looking into rejovenating the pancreas and not just doing its work.

Thank you Denise Faustman for all of your efforts.

I have a very close friend that would be totally willing to participate at any time to help make this cure possible.

my sons sugar was 21 it has never been that low and i thought i was going to loose him i was in line for unemployment it was horrible. i didn't call the ambulance i just fed him sugar juice and pop. when he came back he couldn't remember anything. the worst thing about diabetes is what it does to your body not the everyday routine. please help fund her so we can all have our kids our future restored. he is only 8 and he has had diabetes since he was 4. I have never been able to see him sick as a teenager so know a cure is on the way i just want it to come sooner then later because everyday counts.

It is interesting to note that those who have produced miracle cures in the past such as Fleming (Penicillin) had many detractors who regularly harangued him until his cure was proved. Faustman I hope will pull through in the end. People's negative comments about her are borne out of frustration that they have not been freed from this horrible disease yet.

I say keep the faith. If it isn't Faustman it will be somebody else. I have had Type 1 for 31 years. I'm 43 now and I still firmly believe I will be cured.

I first contacted Dr. Faustman in July of 2001, at that time she said trials would be completed by 2003! Here we are 8 years after her proclamation, and nothing!

I agree with the above poster, this researcher is not about change only the income from research grants.

It is an awful life altering disease I am now 22 when I was diagnosed I started taking insulin (humolog and humilin) shots 4 times a day.I checked my blood sugar up to 6 times a day unfortunately those of us who get it at such a young age are completely overwhelmed and lost not to mention all the pain that we go through.. I support her in her research 100%! at least she is doing something to stop this epidemic.!!!

Denise Faustman should be funded by the American Diabetes Association and The Juvinile Diabetes Research Foundation for her Clinical Trials Period! She is not some quack, she has been working for years on other research to cure Type 1 Diabetes! She should receive funds from the Diabetes associations around the world, if only people could put aside their inflated egos and give her the support she needs!I have a little boy who just got diagnosed and I don't understand why the support is not coming from the ADA and JDRF. Why is her theory so far fetched and already condemened? Who stands to gain from her research not being given some support? Definitely not Diabetic children for sure!Let it be proved to be not possible or find some concrete reasons for concern before you totally turn it down. Probably some other Hothead, big shot wants credit and wants to run the clinical research under imposed guidelines wich may compormise this lady's research. She has to be funded to do her research and she has to do it her way!

I've been following and supporting this research since 2002. Dr. Faustman's planned proposal to translate her mice protocol to humans never changed. From the beginning, it was very clear that the $11 million was needed for 2 things: First, the pre-clinical work of developing the first human blood assays (tests) for autoimmunity based on these common immune defects found in type I diabetics and building the automation system for the human trials. Second, conducting the phase I human trial using BCG. Ever since the adequate funding became available to launch these tasks, all goals have been surpassed and the phase I human trial is being conducted on time as originally estimated.

This is the first human trial for type I diabetes that is attempting to "selectively remove" the underlying disease with a safe generic and readily available substance as opposed to the many human trials that use expensive and toxic immune suppressant drugs. It is the first human clinical trial that is trying disease removal in people that have been living with diabetes for many years, not just during the early diagnosed timeframe or as a preventative treatment in those at high risk.

Dr. Faustman's published work last year of showing the selective killing off of the autoreactive T-cells in blood samples of humans with type I diabetes is the first indication not only of hope that this may translate successfully in humans but more reason that this research should absolutely get the support to move forward to phase II as quickly as possible.

Follow all leads, good god remember bread mold???

Just get it handled. The thought of losing body parts as I age scared the devil out of me.

I already have tingling in my toes and my limbs don't fall asleep like they occassionally would in my sleep as a kid.

Spooky stuff

Frankly I"m tired of Dr. Faustman's claims. I heard her speak in New York six years ago . . maybe five .. and she stated flat out that with $11 million she could cure diabetes. She got the money (From help from Iacocca Foundation) and no cure. I think she's more about paying herself and getting PR than she is about REAL CHANGE.
