I cannot believe that someone would suggest that drinking any amount of alcohol in pregnancy is okay. Having worked in Alaska with children with varying degrees of fetal alcohol syndrome and fetal alcohol effect, I think the best advice to give pregnant women is to completely abstain from alcohol while pregnant. Fetal alcohol syndrome is the one developmental disability that is 100% preventable. By telling women that one study finds that light drinking may be okay, you may be condemning future babies to a lifelong disability.

I have a five year old daughter who has been on antibiotics 2 times in her life time. She has never had an ear infection, never had the flu, etc... I am a hotel manager and to be honest, i don't clean my house as often as i should, also my daughter spends alot of time at the hotel. interacting with my staff and all of my guest. And she is so healthy and happy. And a bonus, she's very smart as well. she came 7 weeks early and everyone kept telling me to keep her inside and away from people. WHATEVER!!! like thats at all possible. bottom line, love them whole heartedly, spend time with them and stop making them into coddled messes!! keep in mind, these kids whom we're raising today all think that thery're owed the world and they place balme on anyone but themselves, and they are who is going to be running our country!! snap out of it people!!

Keep yourself emotionally balanced and eat a healthy balanced diet. Don't binge and have a treat on a regular basis. Don't give in to the blahs and blues and listen to your body. Listen to all advice and discard most of it if it doesn't feel right to you. You and your baby will be able to come through all this and be happy and healthy together if you don't worry. The worry causes stress which causes so many other problems and when you focus on all the negatives you give them a chance to take over. Laugh several times a day even when you want to cry. Cry like a baby for 5 minutes and then laugh at yourself for all the time wasted crying. Love yourself, love your baby and all will be well.

It's amazing how mothers did it for thousands of years, without all this so-called 'expert' advice !

Here's a thought to all you moms out there attempting to make perfect babies. Nature, and natural selection , actually favors the child who survives against all odds. Coddling your genetic offspring is the quickest way to make it weak and unable to survive.

aYeah, I know it sounds all scientific and far-fetched. After all, we are all modern people right ? But look at the current peanut allergy epidemic as evidence. Doctors are now realizing that over-use of hand sanitizers and antibiotics is partly to blame. It causes the body to 'overreact' to normal pathogens and the body then develops an 'allergy.' It's actually better to let your kid get sick occasionally, to develop their immunity. I have a little one and I rarely use sanitizer, let her run and play, don't insulate her from danger, and as a result she is very fit, healthy, and she actually gets sick less than her peers. And I wouldn't do it any other way.

Surround-sound the little buggers with conservative talk radio. They will definitely be smarter.
