Antimilk, where do you have residues of antibiotics and hormones in milk!? In Europe a farmer can`t even sold his milk, if there is any residue of these! Dairies doesn`t want that kind of milk, because it inhibits the growth of good bacteria, that make yogurt, cheese, etc.

I used to buy my milk straight from the farm, up untill i moved to a new city now i dont know of any dairy in the area. I like to drink milk but there is one I have with store bought dairy, Its been processed and had all the nutrients removed then they have been reinjected them back into the milk and sent it to your home. 2% milk is made by process there is no cow that has this milk. Anything that has been processed in any way can potentially be altered by man, When did we become the ones who got to choose what milk should taste like or what nutrients should be in it.

Hi

Would like to know if milk also referring to rice milk, potato milk? Or only cow's milk or lamb's milk. Since my son is autistic, he cannot take dairy drink or food (biomedical)...

It was great to Google "milk healthy" and find that there are more articles questioning milk then articles CLAIMING that is needed for calcium requirements. I just wonder how many times I have to tell people that it pulls more calcium from the bones then it provides before people start to listen.

Im shocked (not really though) that kids are being told to drink milk even with an intolerance. Because the calcium needed form the milk is much more important than a healthy immune system. And lets not forget the lovely hormones and antibiotic residues that come along with this great source of calcium.

Here's a great list of foods with calcium: http://www.girlshealth.gov/bones/stayingstrong/calcium_where.html

You'll see that it's in lots of foods, but definitely in the highest amounts in milk and milk products.

The information above is incorrect. One cup of broccoli has 43 mg of calcium compared to about 300mg of calcium in one cup of milk.

As a Naturopathic physician I can't tell you how many common childhood ailments have been alleviated by eliminating highly allergic foods such as dairy and wheat. Cow's milk consumption has been linked to ear infections, ADD/ADHD, eczema, childhood asthma, etc. Calcium is a necessary mineral in the smooth and skeletal muscle contraction. The composition of cow's milk makes digestion quite a chore and thus it actually takes more calcium to break down and assimilate a glass of milk than the milk actually contains! Not to mention, the study sited was funded by the dairy interest. How blind do you have to be to miss that conflict of interest? P.S. 1 cup of brocolli has more calcium than one cup of milk.

This is a highly debatable subject, especially from a nutrition specialist's standpoint.

Truth: Milk from cows is NOT a great source of calcium for humans, as this food was never designed for human consumption, and is not easily assimilable in humans. Cases of osteoporosis have resulted from consuming too much dairy food, as this protein rich milk prevents calcium from being utilized in human bodies.

Although dairy products do have nutritional qualities, many humans function better without them, as many have lactose intolerance. Dairy is a major factor in contributing to phlegm, mucous, and other congestion, leading to breathing issues, etc. Animal fats can also lead to and cause restricted blood flow

There are numerous foods that have all the nutrition in dairy without the adverse side effects. Numerous soy, almond, rice, and other milks are supplemented, with all the nutrient qualities of dairy without the side effects.

Cows milk is designed to create explosive growth in young cows (until their teeth come in) and help out their fledgling immune system. If you want your children to have a cows immune system by all means go ahead. Notice how many diseases that are running rampant in America are the result of a messed up immune/inflammatory response. Heart Disease, MS, Diabetes, Stroke. Is it possible that suckling on large ruminants is a suboptimal dietary source of anything for a primate? Unfortunately Elsie the Cow and heart repair legions in the hospitals are for profit businesses that have to show great profit or they will get scolded by wall street. I was a milk drinker, told all my life how good it was for me, until "the incident". Now society has been handed an expensive repair bill on my left anterior descending coronary artery and lifelong obligation to pay $140 a month for a Plavix prescription or I will die. People better wake up in this country. The terrorist killed only a couple thousand. A symbiotic relationship between mass manufactured food and the "health" industry kills millions and has helped to make us globally uncompetitive. Have a nice day
