A Parents' Guide to Managing Vaccinations

I disagree with spacing out shots as proposed above, since it would unnecessarily endanger children by reducing the speed of their protection and allowing a potential exposure to cause disease. The shots given at 2, 4, and 6 months provide critical protection, and even then, boosters are needed months later for full protection. I have personally seen children who are behind on their shots, contract diseases such as Hib, pneumonia and pertussis and end up being very sick or hospitalized.

The other suggestions I do agree with. A parent can always request thimerosol-free flu vaccine for older kids; all other vaccines have been thimerosol -free since 2000 or 2002. Always wait until after an acute illness is over to get any vaccinations. Your body has to work to develop the antibodies, so it makes sense for your body to be well. Being cautious about new vaccines is reasonable, unless we are in the midst of a dangerous epidemic such as the H1N1 flu last year.

Yesterday I called Merk and learned that the last shipment of the separated vaccines was Oct of 2008, and that they are behind in production and won't have it available for a couple years. She suggested we call all travel clinics and pharmacies in your area and after 2 hours of calling I finally found the single measles vaccine at Passport Health Clinic in the Phx AZ area. It may take some time to locate but it can be found. Best of luck to all and keep your children safe.

that is so true that tv shows are choosing a side in this debate. martina spoke ofthe episode where the doctor who vaccinates the child while his brother dies in the next room, against the mother's wishes. it felt like he abused his rights as a peadiatrician. isnt this a sort of compulsory vaccination worse than any dictatorian regime? as a mother i felt under attack and reprimanded if i was to chose not to vaccinate. how dare they side so blatantly, after all the final scientific evidence is still pending.

I am in complete alignment with the comment Sarah of VA made regarding the levels

of aluminum that one child would receive if they followed the mainstream vaccine

schedule.

Aluminum is a Nuerotoxin!! Hello!!!! Autism / Alzheimers ?? the aluminum

link is there. No wonder we are seeing more chronic disease than infectious disease.

We have traded in one for the other at the expense of a whole generation who are victims of this criminal activity that requires us to submit our children to this excessive and dangerous protocol. Now parents are facing possible jail time and fines in some states if they attempt to protect their children from receiving injections of these dangerous vaccines. This is the craziest and scariest of times. Like Dr. Sears says, Aluminum is the new Mercury. What if we were sent to jail for not protecting our children from these vaccines? Think about it....

Im a mom of 2, one has been fully Vacc through age 4, the other only through 4 months, as that was when I was researching the topic a bit more as a second time mom with a tad more experience behind me. In the recent weeks I have watched two of my favorite televsions shows where the topic was not vaccinating against measles. One womans child had autism which was why she chose not to vacc the other two, so the drama of course was that one of them contracted the disease and died, while the other sat in the waiting room and was stuck with the vaccine by his pediatrician! the entire cast claiming its child abuse not to vaccinate. tonites show showed a woman actually being sued for the death of anothers child b/c he son not vacc played at a park while sick and the other child died as a result. Is there some kind of conspiracy going on here? I feel like im being freightened into vaccinating my children during a time when im supposed to be recharging for another day of fun and play with kids id give my own life for! What gives!?!?

I'm 31 years old and we had 10 shots by the time we were 5 years old. Our children now get 35 by the time they are 5! They start with 6 vaccinations at 2 months old!

The acknowledged toxic dose of aluminum for a baby is 20 micrograms.

At 2 months of age that same baby could receive immunizations containing 1,875 micrograms of aluminum.

Sound crazy to anyone else?

1 in 150 children are diagnosed with Autism. This year more children will be diagnosed with Autism than Diabetes, Cancer, and Aids combined.

The separate MMR is not available anymore and there is a discussion on askdrsears.com and what to do.

I have read the entire book and his ideas are based on logic and research. To say it is not empirical is not true. He studied what is out there..and I'm sorry that is what experts do. He never said he was making experiments to present empircal evidence and that isn't the point of the book. Did you even read the book or the research quoted? His concerns on aluminum are based on empircal data and extrapolations from similar studies and raise valid points any reasonable person could understand. Last time I checked chem class mercury was mercury and I don't want any of that stuff in my baby. Vaccines should not have anything that you should question in them. They should be things we can rely on to help keep our children safe. No "DR" should be an expert...the PARENT is the expert and should thoroughly research available evidence. Doctors are just people and are not the end all and be all. All they did was go to school and some of them aren't even that smart. If you have concerns you are allowed to voice them. Also, who says he disagrees with just what about every other doctor on the planet says...I'm sorry did you interview all of them? My doctor agrees with many of the things outlined here and so do scores of them listed on his website. It is time that research is conducted to answer these age old questions and if it wasn't for people like Dr. Sears arguing for more information and to be cautious nobody would listen. If we don't protect our children we fail them.

I also want to split up the MMR shots. My doctor says Merk doesn't make them separate anymore. Is this true? We have Kaiser for insurance and I'm thinking maybe they just don't carry them separate. Do you know anywhere I can get my son these shots separate? I don't mind paying extra.

We have purchased the ruebella and mumps individual vaccines but cannot find the measles. Merck isn't making it, can we get it somewhere else?
