I don't think the AAD is, or can, contradict the statement that a moderate amount of sun exposure - 10 to 15 minutes - is good for one's health. We need to distinguish from exposure to UV radiation - something very different - which is not beneficial.
Getting vitamin D from "vitamin supplements" (HELLO corporate sponsors and Big Pharma!) does NOT provide the exact same benefit as the sun, because supplement Vitamin D does NOT last as long in the human body.
