This Bear of a man, Teddy, we hope will be with us for a long time. I always remember his speech on the death of the second of his brothers to die by assassination. So sad. He is part of our national memory of love. Love for those who care about the little guy, the arts, goodness for goodness sake, not just for heaven's gain.

I noticed with interest that there was no mention of the exciting results emerging from a Phase 2 trial the use of chlorotoxin to fight glioma. This drug, a synthesized version of the venom molecule of the the Giant Israeli Death Stalker Scorpion was developed through the basic research of Dr. Harald Sontheimer, director of the UAB Civitan International Research Center and the UAB Center for Glial Biology in Medicine.. The drug is set to begin a broad Phase 3 study in the near future. Results have been promising. And, because this cancer is virtually inoperable, the drug strategy is essential to success along with earliest possible detection due to the incredibly fast growth rate of this glial cell based disease.
