This is exactly why the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (www.aath.org) exists. This application related to children's emotional health is extremely important.

I wrote a book called Happiness Is a Pair of Shorts, that helps kids cope with cancer, and dedicated an entire subject to it. It's true. A good case of the giggles goes a long long way.

This article is of great interest to me as I have studied the research on learning and humor for several years. My book, Using Humor to Maximize Learning advocates the use of humor in education. I believe that humor can create a porsitive culture for learning and assists with retention of information.

I am grateful that the research is validating what most educators believe-that humor and laughter not only belong in our lives, but are critically important.

Thank you!

Excellent study! And easy to accept, especially because humor and positive regards are the foundation for my daughter's resilience in her multiple health struggles and compliations. She suffers greatly at times but is one of the happiest, eager, compassionate, positive 9-year olds I know. Even within anxiety episodes. I look forward to additional studies in this regard. Thank you!
