It is already a well-known fact, especially among those of us with multiple chemical sensitivity, that chemicals are having an effect on our health. Many, after seeking help from multiple physicians and specialists, are diagnosed with either psychiatric illness or the catch-all "chronic fatigue syndrome". Because of the varying symptoms which do not fit neatly in traditional medicine's pharmaceutical protocal, MCS sufferers are discarded as hypocondriacs. It's very interesting, though, that when people with MCS avoid chemicals, their symptoms lessen or disappear.
Detox centers such as the Environmental Health Center - Dallas (http://www.ehcd.com/) are helping educate doctors and patients on the effects of chemicals on our health. There has been plenty of research already done. It's time for physicians to stop hiding the effects of chemicals with anti-depressants. It's time to stop the progression of disease. It's time to start looking for root causes to endocrine and autonomic nervous system dysfunction issues. It's time to lower our chemical load and heal.

You are absolutely correct, the chemicals are in everything we use. Personal products and cleaning products. To protect yourself and your family look for products with the "leaping bunny" symbol. This means that none of the ingredients were tested on animals, which means that they are all natural. ALL chemicals in US have to be tested on animals. Our government and corporations know the effects and still put them in our products to make a higher profit! Anyway, if you don't trust the "leaping bunny" start using homemade cleaning products like vinegar for glass, baby oil to polish stainless steel, lemon juice for disinfection. Particulary if you have children and/or pregnant. Also, avoid food coloring, additives, sweetners etc. Remember neither the US goverment nor the US corporations will take responsibility for you. You must do it yourself!

It is common knowledge that the EPA and FDA are worthless. The govt., and these companies who are polluting us so thoroughly are doing it for a reason: to make us stupid and sterile.
Do yourself a favor- watch "Bag It" (the movie)" in which a guy starts out asking questions about those ubiquitous single-use shopping bags, and ends up on a personal experiment to try to free himself and his family from these dangerous chemicals. They are in EVERYTHING! Disguised as "fragrance" or dyes, even in the stuff made to use on babies! They put these chemicals, on purpose, in products designed to use on kids, then the kids get AD/HD, autism, cancer, lowered fertility, etc. Then they turn around and sell parents the "medicines" to make them all better. Yeah right. Wake up Americans. Stop letting yourselves be poisoned.
Stop buying it. One day at a time, one bottle at a time, we can do this!

Safety of its citizens should be one of the top concerns for the federal government and the long term health of the young and pregnant mothers is critical to our national health. Why are we allowing these harmful chemicals and only learning of their effects long after the harm has already been done? Let's all contact our senators and congressional representatives to make them aware of our concerns.

I don't understand why a law would be required. Companies don't just create new materials and sell them without checking their safety first. This article almost suggests that manufacturers are putting profits ahead of safety. How mean! Moreover, the article intimates that manufacturers might have lobbied the government in order to have 'low' standards in place. Last I checked, we live in a democracy. You can't just lobby the government to get what you want. There has to be voting.

I believe the above article is misleading and is pushing the wrong agenda. Every chemical that is in use in the US is required to be tested on small animals and large mammals. Companies such as Huntigton Life Sciences poison and burn hundreds of millions of animals (including millions of dogs) a year in the name of chemical safety testing. So, the information of what happens living things under the influence of the chemicals is very very very well know. Please see example of aspartame experiments on animals, then ask yourself how this substance can be allowed in your food. Despite all of this information, EPA hasn’t banned any chemical in the last ten years. So, what exactly does EPA do? I think as Americans we should demand the EPA to work for the people not the corporations. They have all of the information about every chemical, they just refuse to stand up to the big business.

We have known the cozy relationship of the crappy US government at all levels which allowed the use of poisonous or lethat drugs, MERSA, indiscrimanate build up of pollutants and chemicals (such as Love Canal), DDT, and intentional poisoninmg of the ecology and nature- al, in the name of making a profit by destroying our natural resources and the health of US citizens! Remember the Jew heads of cigarette companies who lied to High Jehovah that cigarettes don't cause enphezima od cancer or that 'fracting' of shale to release natural gas is SAFE!!
The real question is that you knew all of this crap for decades!! You should have brought up these facts when you learned of them!!
