The More Mom Works, the Heavier Her Kids Get: Study

If as the study shows children are over weight, I don't believe it is due the moms working or even the type of food they eat. I think it is how involved the parents are with their children, how much they interact. When parents interact with their children, children are much happier and tend to be more active and have more interests. If parents are too tired, too stressed, work long hours, the children can become uninterested and may become less active, lonely, crave comfort from food, etc. The other reasons could be that children are staying indoors more and more for various reasons while their parents are at work, more study due to competitive nature of school and jobs - all adding to more stressful, less physically active lifestyle. http://selfhealtools.com

maybe because working moms do not on average breastfeed which has proven to decrease all kinds of problems including obesity, diabetes etc

Many existing laws and regulations apply specifically to pregnant women. Several provisions of the Affordable Care Act offer new benefits for expecting mothers. Search online for "Wise Health Insurance" if you need affordable insurance for yourself or your wife.

Children gain weight first of all because almost everything around them is processed and if it is not processed, it contains hormones and chemicals.

Fast food is not good but the kind of food you find in the grocery stores is not a whole lot better. Unless you upgrade to the so called organic products, your child and your family is still going to put a lot of garbage in their system.

The term heavier was used just fine. There is no such thing as a bulkier child.

Children these days get excuses for how they look, how they act, how they behave but the bottom line is that they need rules and discipline in their life, not excuses.

If the mother is staying home, as a girl, you assume that this is the right approach in life. Truly, it is not. A stay at home mother doesn't do a better job than the one that goes to work. But if the mother does work, the child will learn how to be independent, how to joggle work and all other responsibilities.

A mother that has a job might spend the same quality time with her children as the one that stays at home. I have serious doubts that a stay at home mother is spending every minute next to her children and she doesn’t do anything else except activities with them. If they would, Facebook would be an empty space!

As a girl, these days, you can’t assume that prince charming will come along, marry you and let you raise 4-5 children happily, while being a stay at home Mom.

Women should be able to be independent and be able to support themselves in case Prince Charming decides to become less charming and in case he is getting tired of working 2 jobs to support his family and runs away.

So, going back to the “The More Mom Works, the Heavier Her Kids Get” study, the problem is not how much the Mom is working, it is the lack of quality food on the grocery stores shelves and the lack of discipline in children’s life, these days.

Two parents work. The kid is heavy. Whose fault? The Mom's.

How do we know? Because in families with stay at home moms, the kid weighs less. BUT WAIT. Maybe it is having two working parents that is making the kid heavy. Or maybe it is having a stay at home parent that makes the kid less heavy. NAH, it's gotta be the woman's fault.

All these 'studies', nonsense. I am the son of a single mother, 23 when she had me, who worked a full-time (over-timed/underpaid) salaried management position until I was 11 years old and she remarried. We were poor as the day is long. I certainly wasn't overweight then, nor am I now. Never even been the type to pay much attention to diet either.

Just saying, take this crap with a grain of salt. "Studies" are like surveys, they're only as good as who participates.
