Today's College Students More Likely to Lack Empathy

With all the social programs in force that say that test scores don't really count, it is a wonder that a high-school graduate can use basic math skills needed for everyday life. Then they go to college. Very impressive to say the least. Empathy takes a certain level of brain power that the present-day students seem to lack. But what do I know, I'm only a 250 pound human.

I think and feel empathy is a thing of the past, but I equate lack of empathy with a lack of a relationship with God and His teachings. These, that lack empathy, can learn to forgive others more as the Bible teaches. Also, being part of solutions and not the problems that arise. Turn Brittany Spears, Brad Pitt, and all the Tom Cruises off. Quiet your mind, go and get the definition of empathy, pray about it, and grow from your mistakes with forgiveness of others and of youselves.

Maybe the empathy has just returned to normal after the hippies are finally gone.

Sure blame video games for everything, again. Nevermind the overcompetative parents with their 60+ hour work week to lead the yuppie lifestyle has anything to do with it.

There will always be lazy people who will sit around on you tube and facebook all day. and then there will be those who use you tube and twitter to advertise companies and nonprofits they've started, or crisis and causes around the world and educate other people. Most of the people working for google, young people fresh out of college, the internet and websites on it being just one example of how college aged students in the past 10-20yrs have revolutionized the world.

No, its just that college aged students socialize way less and are out changing the world way more than they were 10-20-30yrs ago. And being on the computer exploring counts as well, its called globilization, even if only on a wireless level. The culture that is emerging even from just mindless web surfing which a lot of older people may view as wasteful and selfish is revolutionizing our concept of the world with a more realistic view just if even based on sheer numbers of hits, statistics from internet websurfing, online blogs etc, and pushing our limits on to what extent we believe we can impact the world.

The people who've decided to throw out all convention and say "why not bring the entire world to the rest of the world's fingertips?" right now are college age people.
