There is no question that even the most intelligent individual can start out with an incorrect premise.. and end up at the wrong conclusion. My intelligence does not dictate what I believe..nor do I think it dictates what anyone else believes. And.. if I think we can agree..that even intelligent people can be misinformed.. and.. that being the case.. neither does what you believe determine your intelligence. I happen to think there are many intelligent liberals who believe stupid things.. i.e.spending more money stimulates the economy,or..if a US citizen (who happens to be white)..disagrees with his president(who happens to be black) then by definition.. he is a racist

Aura, If you are going to suggest the Holy Books are mythology, at least get your data correct. There are no Christian churchs that I am aware of that practice burnt offerings. The offering in the OT was given to God, and the priests got a portion to live on, as the sons of Levi didn't inherit land in Canaan. Most conservative theologians agree that the Exodus accured @1445 BC., 3500 years ago. The historical period of Genesis had already passed, therefore, theologians don't think the earth is 3000 years old. So, in all your intellectual study, tell me exactly were the Bible has been proven wrong. Not a vague maybe, or preponderance of the evidence, but solid beyond a doubt proof.

As far as science can prove, man's brain is the most complex thing in the world.
To my thinking, if my complicated, complex high-tech computer had a creator, and it did, then the almost infinitely more complex human brain must have had a creator. There ain't no two ways 'bout it.
I like the concept that God is Love: Infinite, absolute, eternal Love and that we can be zapped through and through with this Love.
Religion (in my case, Catholicism) can and does address the longing we have for eternal life in peace and bliss with all our loved ones, including God.
Even if this myth be untrue, I would still enjoy the "magic" of faith for the psychological benefits. That being said, I honestly believe.
How did Everything start? With the Big Bang? What went bang, and what acted on it to go bang?
Like the man said, "Nothin' comes from nothin' and nothin' ever could," (actually, it was Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music) the idea that, without any intelligent First Cause, the universe arose out of nothing and then life arose from inanimate matter is ridiculous. And, to a man endowed with good sense, false.
So if He exists, why is God seemingly hiding from the infidels? I don't know and I don't care. I got God the Father and the Holy Ghost and I have my Holy Catholic Faith, and Jesus Christ, my God, Who is Truth, plus the Mother of Our Lord and my spiritual Mother, Mary Most Holy. Amen to God!

Holy Books are collections of myths that create, keep & increase church income. They list which which assets believers must give to clerics, with the minimum set at ten per cent. Church employees are to be given only the best cuts of meat, finest fruit, fish, & vegetables, etc. A small part is to be burned on an altar but most of it is consumed with the best wine. The first affect of religious myth on converts is to end their ability to know how the world works. Myth says everything began 3000 years ago, and converts believe it. Atheists never stop doing research to discover exactly how everything works so we can cure disease, take better care of the environment, etc. Believers obey commands to read & re-read the same book they got in Sunday School, nothing fresh.
They study "courses" that give them even more repetition of the same myths. They meet often to make sure they are all stuck in the same intellectual rut. They send their descendants to church & church school. Believers spend so money "practicing religion'" that they're convinced they must be "getting their money's worth.

I should have taken my own advice. Mea Culpa.

Here are some reasons that a Creator is a reasonable belief.
First, the universe must have had a beginning which is both philosophically and scientifically sound. Ask any mathematician and he/she will tell you that infinity is a nice concept to throw around in equations, but it doesn't seem to work in the material world. For example, how old should the universe be until it was considered infinitely old? As you can see the question simply doesn't make any sense. In the early 1900s, scientists discovered a red shift with distant stars and galaxies. This meant that the light from these astronomical bodies was having to travel greater distances as light went on indicating that the universe was expanding. Towards the mid-20th century scientists also discovered background radiation within the universe that would be caused by a sudden explosion. What I have just described is a brief historical summary of the Big-bang theory. It is the leading theory on what the origin of the universe must have been like. According to the Big-bang, the universe did not exist because there was a point when neither time and space existed. Einstein's theory of relativity explained that time could not exist without space and vise versa. Since the universe had no spatial volume, there could not be any matter because matter takes up space. With that in mind, scientists now realize that the universe is not infinitely old but had a beginning. The problem is that they have no way of ever giving a natural explanation of the cause of the universe. Yet, a quick look at Genesis 1:1 indicates that being existing when the universe didn't could have easily done this.
Second, the universe and the earth have certain factors necessary for life. Examples include the force of gravity, the forces holding atoms together, distance from the sun, having the moon, and liquid water. If any of these factors change, life like ours (and in some instances, life in general) could not be possible. It would appear then that someone/something created the universe and the earth with humanity and other life forms in mind.
Third, evolution as described by Darwinists lacks any real evidence. Haeckel's embryos are fakes. The Cambrian explosion refutes the so-called "Tree of Life" which attempts to explain how all living creatures originated from one living organism. Yet, the fossil record lacks the transitional species and shows the exact opposite of what evolutionists are saying. Miller-Urey experiment did not use the correct atmosphere which scientists today believe the earth had when life began to appear. The original atmosphere is now believed to have had oxygen which would have destroyed organic molecules instead allowing them to form. Also, just because you have organic molecules doesn't mean you can now create a living organism. Then there is DNA. It contains useful information, which only an intelligence can create and not random processes.
I hope this is useful.

Schaefer always posts his same old sermons, then he says the site (and its host) is out of date. His comments often sound a lot like plagiarism of Chapter & Verse. My mother was related to James Wilson, a Founding Father, so I defend the Constitutional right to be a freethinker. Commentator Schaefer seems to deny himself access to that same freedom. Someone converted him. They decreased his assets every time he tithes or pays a church fee. Atheists worry preachers because they depend on church income to make a living. Here's a little quiz: Churches take many tax exemptions because they insist they're NON-PROFIT. They take income tax exemption, because they do receive income. it comes from tithes, fees, legacies, stock market investments, sale of wines, wafers, cheese, etc. made by nuns & monks. They get income from selling all kinds of religious media--videos, tapes, etc. They profit from selling religious medals, icons, jewelry & everything listed in catalogs of "Church Supplies." They take property tax income on every real estate asset. Thanks to the host for useful site.

It's pretty obvious that creationists are not as smart as everyone around them. I'm 12 years old, and i've seen creationists video's and i swear, those people are stupid. I bet i would kill one of them in a debate to see if god is real or not.

I like to believe that there is hope that people can change. And yes, I would like to see a biblical blogger on US News. It would offer a more diverse view point.
U.S. News's "Best" delivers recognized, authoritative information and clear, objective rankings that help readers plan for their life and ultimately, make the most of it.
