I understand what you are saying BUT for you wish a disease, on anyone is just cruel and rude.... You need to stop and think, what would you do if someone wish this on your child? Grow up.....

I Love Howie, He is a great guy and I hope all goes well for him.... I have friends who have children with OCD and I do everything possible to help them.... I hope all who have OCD can get the help they need...... It's not anything anyone should JOKE about... I see these friends go through so much and how much it wears them out, and as a friend can not do anything to give them a cure. I pray, wish and hope that all who have an OCD can and will get better...

I really like Howie. OCD or not, he's a good guy. I enjoyed the book a lot and would read another one by Howie. :)

I'm very disappointed in the book. I thought, by what he's said on talk shows that it was about his daily life with OCD, yet this book is more of an autobiography. I laughed once in the entire book.

Exposure and response prevention (a form of CBT) has been the most effective therapy for OCD. For those of you out there with OCD, I recommend that you look it up and consider it.

wow, you guys are selfish and rude, if you didn't want to know about it, don't even go on the page or read about it. jeeez. and it's a disorder, so now since you make fun of people for having it, i hope your kids have it. goodbye

In the work place, one must find mechanisms to allow one to do their work without being compromised by the OCD. Other than that, one must be open, embrace and be willing to make fun of their OCD.

I have OCD for years. I, too, have got caught up in elaborate rituals. But I do not suffer from a fear of germs. I am a checker, tapper, toucher, organizer and perfectionist.
I understand how the fear of germs thing could work. It could be nasty, nasty, nasty. At one times, I would wash my hands with bleach, but this did not last long.
I have a strong immune system so I do not worry about germs and getting sick nor am I afraid of it.
I mean you get the flu and you recover. How bad is that? There are researchers who say that exposure to germs makes our immune systems stronger.
I think it would be terrible to be afraid of germs and contamination. I am not sure how I escaped this aspect of OCD because it bombarded me in every other way. I am glad that I managed to escape this part because I know that I have certain freedoms that other people with OCD don't. I am not a slob. Like most people with OCD, I like to look clean and attractive. However, I can get dirty, too, and wash and move on.
OCD is cruel and it is a thief. It takes so much from those us who suffer from it.
Medication helps me but it is not the best solution.
