This study reported on a group of people who were very carefully screened and selected and not an open Internet population. Plus, the patients in this study were screened by a primary care physician's office and anyone identified as not having the potential for success was not even invited. Then community was available for support if anyone had any problem.

That's very different from what happens on the net with counselors who take your money to chat with you. Very different.
