D.C. is not a state!

Also, Maryland is one of the last states that should be on this list.

Your article is officially a joke and considering the unemployment rate right now, how are you still employed?

My name is Arturo S. and I'm a recovering addict with now 14 months clean and I have experience at my 49 years of age a new beginning.

In the past I continued to relapse after more than several times in and out of recovering centers....after methodicaly viewing the ways I would feel and physicaly take care of my body, mind and soul I started to see that my nutritional behaviour also needed to have a well deserved change for I was lacking some of the essential nutritional balance that complements a whole change for the better....So far I can feel a better state of mind and physicaly in no doubt feel even youger I'm able to make better desitions which is one of the weakest flows in a active addicts desition making in all social enviroments, indeed omeg-3 and omega-6 balance diet complemented with natural carbohydrates ( fruits) grains and legumes does the body good please let it be known that regular exercise in needed !!!

All in moderation.... Thank you !

"America's 10 Brainiest States?" I hate to tell you this, but "Washington D.C." is not a state. It has no Senators, and until 1961, the residents could not vote in presidential elections. This blooper alone should disqualify the whole list of results.

If California wasn't flooded with millions of illegal aliens, it too would likely be on the list. Just look at how illegal immigration has devastated L.A. public schools over the past few decades.

The last time I checked, D.C. isn't a state.

DC has very high obesity rates. I doubt them being #1 in smarts is due to healthy diets. It's because of all the damn lawyers with advanced degrees!

36% of the score was Diet. 25% of the score was physical health and only 24% of the score was MENTAL HEALTH! This is a joke not science. If it were science it would measure brain function. Instead, this assumes that Diet is the biggest factor in brain function and uses that as a basis for determining the outcome. Real science (do we have any of that anymore?) would measure brain function and then maybe look into why people in different areas had better brain function (if that is actually true). I like the part about 15% of the score being social well being - what does that have to do with brain function?

I guess since this is science...that we have to subtract 25% of Steven Hawkins brain function score because of his poor physical health. Sorry sir, but because of your physical heath, you just cannot be that smart. See this study proves it.

In my opinion, you forgot to put the ADVERTISEMENT warning at the top of the article.

This "article" is parroting of an advertising blurb put out by Martek Biosciences.

I have a business that could use some pub. If I put out a phony "index" showing how my product helps people, will you shill for me?

Does USNWR get a kickback for this kind of crap? Or is this just an indication of the laziness of the writers and USNWR's complete lack of journalistic standards?
