My son had an Ependymoma brain tumor removed almost 4 years ago. He is 8 years old. It resulted in a traumatic brain injury. It was the size of an orange. He has lapses in short term memory. We are on a study. He is taking an Alzheimers drug. Since being on the study, we have noticed that his recall is much better. When you are in our situation with a young child, you will try whatever you feel may benefit and help. Without this study trial, we may never see any advancements. It is productive research that may help families of Alzheimers patients in the future. I thank God, that we have been given this chance to possibly help our son.

I am just a caregiver, not a researcher, but believe there have been studies showing many different brain insults, from strokes to head trauma produce plaques. The so called leading hypothesis for Alzheimer's has been sucking up all the research money and produced no results that help Alzheimer's victims.
In 1976, my wife's mom was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and the doctor told my wife not to worry because a cure would be found before she might be affected. She has very advanced Alzheimer's. Does not respond to her own name, or sounds, cannot sit or stand by herself, and must be fed.
I am waiting for productive research.
So far as I know, there is not a single documented case of a person recovering from Alzheimer's.
