Once again, we have another example of the failed outcome of fetal/embryonic stem cell treatments and research. This vein should be permanently shelved to make way for the morally licit and dignified work being done in the field of adult and umbilical-cord blood research. The path of the former is morally flawed from its start. Research performed on developing babies under the guise of good science can never be acceptable. The efforts (and federal dollars for that matter) of a compassionate humankind, heroically and rightfully searching for healing, should go towards promoting the latter which has already led to great successes. Moral modes of stem cell research are win-win endeavors. Hopefully, individuals and nations will wake up and shake the scales of collective blindness from their eyes. I feel sorry for the little boy in this article and his parents who have suffered additionally so that bad science could prosper.
