The study did not report any other risk factors in people's lives. More than likely, normal weight peple are more active and take more activity-related risks than overweight people. So they live longer, but far more boring lives.

I'll keep to my normal weight and my active lifestyle, and try to be careful out there. A few extra pounds? Thanks, but no thanks!

US News posted the truth. The Reuters coverage of this same story did not clarify what a few extra pounds meant. The study found that that those who were underweight accordingly to their BMI lived not as long as those with a normal weight accordingly to their BMI. As the study showed that BMI levels were considered overweight did not live as long as those who had a normal BMI weight. For a 5'10" person the BMI charts list underweight (<132), normal (133-173) and overweight (>174).
