Savella has been a near miracle for me. After trying gabapentin and other narcotics that didn't work well and added sluggish side effects, I hesitated in trying a new medication. I am truly glad I did. I had widespread muscle twitching/spasms with my fibromyalgia and began to loose track of whether it was the pain and my life prospects looking grim bringing me down into depression or the other way around. I began Savella a week ago, had no side effects and felt better immediately. The pain is so low as to be nearly gone. I feel more energy and best of all the spectrum of what my life can be just widened exponentially!!! Savella is worth trying if the others dont work well for you!!

This I found on Web MD about it.
Savella for Fibromyalgia Treatment
(continued)
Before You Take Savella continued...
Do not take Savella if:
You are taking or have recently taken another type of antidepressant called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
You have an eye disease called narrow-angle glaucoma.
Before taking Savella, discuss with your doctor your use of other medications. This includes diuretics, triptans, or medications to treat psychiatric or neurological conditions. Ask if you should avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, or other drugs that thin blood. Combining these with Savella may increase your risk of abnormal bleeding.
Also, before starting Savella, tell your doctor if you are nursing or pregnant or plan to become pregnant. And tell your doctor about any medical conditions you have, including:
high blood pressure
fast heart rate or other cardiac condition
liver problems or a history of heavy alcohol use
kidney problems
history of mania or seizure disorders
bleeding disorders
I AM GOING TO TRY THE D-RIBOSE THOUGH..... IT LOOKS POSITIVE WITHOUT
ANY REAL SIDE EFFECTS. IT SEEMS IT CAN BE GOTTEN FROM A HEALTH FOOD STORE OR POSSIBLY BY PERSCRIPTION FROM A DOC AS WELL!!!

i am a 47 yr female dx with fibromyalgia 2008 and other degenerative disc dz. i also have hx of depression and other complications. i have unbearable chronic pain on a daily basis. i have been on savella for a couple of months but, do to unforseen circumstances i am unable to continue with savella. i have had unbearable chronic pain for over 3 years. i have tried tramadal, flexerals, neurotin, the list goes on. i become so depressed due to my chronic pain all the time, unable to have any kind of a quality life. this is an unbearable, deep, heavy and vibrating chronic pain that shoots through out my body. i had to discontinue my citalopram for two weeks prior to beginning savella, this was a very tough time. i have had great success with savella. i feel like my self again and am able to move and get out of the house. i live by myself, so even though i am in pain, i still have to get up and make myself move, not very far. i do not have insurance and make less than 5,000. a year. can you please help me.

I am gong to try Savella. If you want some energy get D-Ribose in powder form have 3 grams 2x a day. This has helped alot with energy but only a little w/pain. D-Ribose can be found in a health store or on line. If you are diabetic, check first with your Dr. Good Luck everyone. God Bless.

I started Savella 10 days ago... So far so good. I feel almost 100% better and full of energy. Had dry mouth and hot flashes the first few days but feel great. I have tried cymbalta and lyrica and hated the side effects. Savella gives me tons of energy and almost pain free. Good luck!

I took Savella after my doctor prescribed it to me. I took the first pill in the titration pack and half hour later felt very nauseated. But that passed. Then I had a low grade headache all day. The next day, when you are suppose to take 2 pills, I skipped it altogether. The next day I took another pill around 11 am and at 6 pm my heart started racing so fast I thought it would come out of my chest. This went on for about 4 hours. I almost went to the emergency room but didn't. I went to bed and this morning my heart rate is still high and very erratic. I will monitor it one minute at 45 beats/minute and then the next at 120 beats/minute.
The stupid thing is that I knew that SSRIs cause my sinus node problems. After being on Lexapro for a year my heart rate was at a steady 35 to 45 bpm all the time. The cardiologist had NO idea it was the drug. But once I went off it my heart rate came up. It's still been slow even after being off it for 8 months now until last night when the Savella caused my heart to go crazy. I guess my heart just doesn't like the SSRI type of medication. Be careful with these drugs. Most doctors don't know that they can affect the sinus node, which is the conduction system for the heart.
The other weird thing is that when I woke up this morning I was in SO much pain I could barely roll over. I feel like I've been pummeled with a bat. How knows what that's about.
I was on zoloft for 3 years about 10 years ago and that's when my heart trouble began. I should have stayed away from the SSRIs but the benefits seemed to outweigh the negatives. Now I know I will never take another SSRI.
I wish my doctor, after telling her how SSRIs affect me would have recommended I steer clear of it.
Oh well, you have to be your own doctor, researcher and advocate!

I am optimistic with all the comments on this new drug. However, I don't have insurance and it is quite expensive. Is there any way to get a free trial of this drug?
