Hi I am a Sober Coach and am on my third client I have one success and one failed attempt. I am also an addict and have been in recovery for almost 6 years now. I would never charge that kind of money to help someone but I have to charge something for 24/7 care I have been working on my 2000 hours for my CAC-II certification. I love helping people and am just wanting to give back to my community to show my gratitude for the help I recieved. I am always willing to be there for people who really need and only for those who want the help I have a program set-up for 21-28 days of 4/7 care and followed by 45 days of 12 hour days the client's have the ability to stay the entire 73 days in home if they choose to do so I have noticed some people like the structure and are more successful! Well I am in Northern Colorado if anyone needs the help call Rayann at (970)472-4187 Soberiety Buddies is my business name! Thanks for Listening Rayann

I used a sober companion in los angeles called http:www.footprintsofserenity.com

They did a great job with my son (18 yr old). He has almost a year sober now. :) happy mother.

I do love that there is hope for the rest of the mothers out there.

Happy to have come across this article. In one form or another I've been "coaching" addicts for years. I think that its a great way to help addicts reach their goals. It gives them something other than a traditional 12 step program, so many of my clients want a different more professional support system. This is the way to go. The issue that I saw in this article was the money. Yes, we all need to make money, but I know that the care of people comes first. I think prices should be affordable for all .

This is a terrific article explaining the ins and outs of sober coaching. Boundaries are the number one issue for being successful. I have been redeemed from the chains of addiction which has led me to attain my Bachelors in Life Coaching/Addiction, some of us do have formal training. However; there is no training that can take the place of living as an addict, if you have been there personally nothing speaks louder to the active addict.

Thank You for the review!

Need information on how to become a sober coach

Rachel of NY 10:29AM April 29, 2011

Is there any evidence that this intervention works?

I believe a sober coach is a new way to go for a different option to a complex disease. I know I could have used a sober coach when I got out of treatment. The odds of maintaining clean time after treatment is stack against you. I feel that if a sober coach was there to help me battle my addiction my addiction with drugs and alcohol after I got out of treatment, I might of not relasped at 6 months and spent another year in active addiction. The hardest part of learning to live clean is learning life skills and that your not worthless. I applaude this new approach that assists the struggling addict to find his way out of his/her living hell and help them learn a new way of life. I finally found NA, which has helped me stay clean for over 9 months. If I can't have a sober coach, I will take my sponsor who helps me walk a rocking road by sharing her experience, strength, and hope. Her sharing her walk through life on life's terms and staying clean through the tough times helps keep me sane and build a closer connection to my Higher Power. For that I am truly grateful.

the main difference between a sober coach and a sponsor is that a sponsor cannot dedicate every hour of the day to his sponsee. A sponsor usually has more than one sponsee, he has his own life, work, family etc that he must spend time with. A sober coach is like a drill sergeant in basic training. to get the Marine ready for combat working with them in an intense setting. The sober coach does similiar work getting the addict ready to work on their recovery through 12 step fellowship

After coming back from an unpopular war, I drank to medicate . I found AA and it got me sober but was left with panic attacks.went to a treatment center with outside help I learned to deal with that .coming out of treatment and doing sometime 3 meetings a day got a sponser. I wanted it bad. next Nov it will be 20 years at one day at a time.

I know what it,s like to come out treatment I networked with others after treatment an have to say within a week most had gone out again .my sponsor saved my life . I can see where a sobor coach would have advanced my recovery. that having someone there that been threw it . (the understanding from one drunk to another) I learned to do what was done with me. I have done some speaking and the many hours of after the meeting. I know that I can make a diffrence.

the God of my understanding is a perfect loving father and the advise he would give, your welcome to use mine till you recognise the one that has gotten you this far

Well said. I've had sponsors, and have been a sponsor. Incidentally, I believe that anyone who's a "helper" needs as much understanding of addiction as possible; reading Alcoholics Anonymous ( the "Big Book") would be a must in my belief.
