Eating Well On the Road

Back to article

Great article to get people thinking about healthy choices for road travel. Basic tenets of nutrition are "eat in moderation" and "all foods fit" so recommending to avoid sodas and no-calorie beverages is not sound. In moderation, a person can fit a sugared beverage into their daily fare that includes fruit, veggies and other healthful foods. Also, no calorie beverages offer a great option for folks cutting back on calories, and the research does not support that these beverages make people hungrier. As a nutrition faculty member at UC Davis as well as a consultant for food and beverage industry, I feel it's vital to give consumers balanced information about their diet and choices to live a healthier life.
