Bioidentical Hormones: A User's Guide

If bio-identical hormones are 100% natural, then the FDA has no authority to regulate them nor do drug companies have the ability to patent them. Drug companies will only promote things they can make a lot of money on. Natural medicine is bad for business.

In order to patent something natural, one must modify it in some way to make it uniquely their own intellectual property. E.G. like adding flavor to water. Then the only rights are those of the flavor not water. Unfortunately, this is what's happening with big pharma business.

Then have a look at the list of side effects written in a micro-font printed on onion skin paper inside the FDA approved pill bottle. They have you because they HAVE DISCLOSED the side effects. So what if you get cancer, they are off the hook meanwhile earning billions selling you products derived from horse urine.

"Take progesterone only in pill form" The problem with that advice is that Progesterone increases the chances of developing thrombosis (blood clots), which can lead to CVA's (strokes) and MI's (heart attacks). The chances are greatly reduced when you take hormones in a way that bypasses the liver as much as possible in what it's called the first pass effect. Which means that the best options are transdermal, sub lingual, or intramuscular administration of estrogen or progesterone.

Read Dr. John Lee's 'What Your Doctor Doesn't Want You to Know about Menopause.' Read Dr. Mercola's website. Educate yourself. Compounding pharmacies are not lone rangers. They are working off of a very specific prescription written by your medical doctor. As to taking the pill form, the pill goes through the digestive system and gets processed by the liver. This requires much higher doses to actually be beneficial. Transdermal creams circumvent this system and get into the blood stream much more quickly and efficiently. As for the saliva and blood testing, your argument for high levels of estrogen do not address the fact that a proper balance of estrogen/estriodol/progesterone are necessary hormones that all work together. Estrogen without progesterone is cancer waiting to happen.

My thoughts: Someone sold out, once again. Just the HUGE interruptive advertisement by DELL that I can't click out of to read the information presented here is evidence of that. Big Pharma... GIVE IT A FREAKING REST. Let women make their own choices without fear tactics. Yes, I am menopausal. I'm also a Registered Nurse - this is NOT my first rodeo.

Poor advice. Sounds like an attempt to keep big Pharma in business. Compounding pharmacies dispensing bioidentical hormones are the only way to obtain creams that will go into the blood stream. Pills go from digestive tract to liver, and synthetic hormones, particularly progestins, have a variety of dangerous side effects. Don't listen to this article!

The pill form of the FDA it is synthetic, what the hell with this article? ARe the saying that because it is FDA it is ok or safe, when it does it makes it ok to have synthetic forms of medicines into our bodies?

What kind of article says be ware of the compounding pharmacies, whiteout them we wouldn't have better and safer not synthetic medications which are the aims of the BIG PHARMA. They want synthetic and horse pee to be our life savers.

What a bunch BSessssss!!!!
