Jackrabbit, you summed it up perfectly. A friend of mine stated if he was to listen to all the scares about what not to eat he would eat nothing. He mentioned in his country the scare about eggs, fish, meat, water, etc etc

I stated to him, Isn't it ironic that all the scares you mentioned is natural foods in it's raw state and not foods put through a processed chemical garbage dump. I did not get a response.

These so called studies are usually conducted by the industries themselves and the results are adopted by the FDA and USDA, so its no wonder that there are so many studies that try to tell us that producing our own foods is bad for us and foods that are soaked with their chemicals are good for us. I also found out that some of the milk companies are putting "High Fructose Corn syrup" in their milk, (the number one cause of diabetes as many physicians are now saying.)

Raw milk bad for your health? Absolute hog wash. I have been drinking raw milk all of my life and my parents as well and we have never been ill from it.

The answer is simple people! If people are healthy, then big pharma goes bankrupt. Dont you know that the people we elect to serve us are commited first and foremost to the wellbeing of Shire, Astra-Zeneca, Barr,Ect._ NOT US!!!!

We had about 70% increase in asthma in adults and almost 100% in young children in this country from mid 80's till today.

We are talking about millions of people here whose quality of life have deteriorated due to the chronic nature of this disease. They have to take the drugs on a regular basis to keep it under control.

Do the math. If the raw milk has caused about 1000 outbreaks that is peanuts compared to the rising numbers of asthma and allergy sufferers. We have millions of young children and adults suffering from allergies, asthma, diabetes, autism, and many more diseases the etiology of which is not clear but mostly attributed to environmental factors including the modern lifestyle. People in developing countries and our country many years ago have never heard of these diseases.

We have traded one set of diseases (mostly acute and sometimes lethal) to another set (chronic and debilitating). Did we make the right choice?

>>From 1998 to May 2005, raw milk or raw-milk products have been implicated in 45 foodborne illness outbreaks in the United States, accounting for more than 1,000 cases of illness

And how many illnesses in that 6 1/2 year period were caused by tainted food? Probably a lot more than a thousand. An undercooked burger, maybe? Shall we ban anything served under well-done?

Is anyone else sick of the nanny state?

I think I'll pick up some raw milk on my next trip to the farmers' market.

I woud love for someone from the FDA/USDA and whatever other powers that be who have their hands in this to explain why it is that we, who wish to consume raw milk from grass fed cows in order to improve our health and well being, have to jump through hoops to obtain it. Making us drive, sometimes for hours ,to a farm that is certified to sell it. telling us that one can have raw milk only if they get it from their own cow or even having to go to another state because the sale of raw milk is illegal in someone's home state is ridiculous.

YET...

People who want to purchase cigarettes, cigars tobacco or chew can walk or drive to their corner store or better yet a smoke shop and buy their POISON of choice. The government itself has announced and has plastered all over the packaging that these products cause cancers, lung disorders, heart disease, strokes and low birth weights. The health care costs associated with smoking/chewing are up to what now? However, the government has not stepped in to protect the public from themselves in this instance by making it a law that you can only have tobacco if you grow it yourself or buy it from a certified farm.

I won't even get on my illness and deaths caused by FDA approved medications soapbox

Why the witch hunt over raw milk?

The double standards are mind boggling

At some point the governmental agencies are going to have to realize that they are no longer dealing with a 1920's population in this country. With the advent of the information age, people have found that they are quite capable of searching out information on subjects that concern them. All most people need now is access to accurate information, then I think we can make our own decisions on what and what not to put into our own bodies. If our leaders would spend less time and money legislating in favor of big industry under the guise of protecting us from ourselves we would all be better off. Frankly, I don't need a law to protect me from raw milk, or cigarettes, or alcohol, or organic food, or anything else I choose to consume. As long as basic sanitation practices are followed on the farm and regular testing for unwanted bacteria and disease is performed there is no reason that raw milk wouldn't be just as safe as processed milk and less harmful to the environment and to us as well. I for one, am tired of having my food pumped full of steroids, antibiotics, preservatives and other man made ingredients that have no place in the human digestive system, just so some corporation can increase their production and make more money, it is no wonder that our children are plagued with health and mental conditions that were unheard of a generation ago. Think about it folks, and then speak up, your legislators can't change anything unless you tell them to.................
