Everyone wants to believe in echinacea, but multiple research studies have shown no effect and I don't know of any true study (published in a peer reviewed journal) that showed a significant effect.

Washing hands can help stop the spread of germs, but you're pretty much guaranteed to be exposed, especially if you have small children or work in a large office. Keeping up your immunity with practices like the ones outlined in this article are your best defense.

I once lived in a mosquito environment and happened to notice that when I was taking 3000 units of C daily the bites initially developed normally but disappeared after 15 minures. I tested that three times and it worked each time. I found that impressive.

How did the study rule out the possibility that bad sleep was caused by the onset of a cold, rather than the other way around?

Taking enough Vitamin D (I take 4000 IU daily during the Winter) is enough to prevent the cold and flu. And it makes perfect sense since the body naturally produces Vitamin D from sunlight during the Summer, and cold/flu only occurs in Winter when your exposure to the sun is lessened. I'm using this season as a test run, If I don't get a cold like usual, I'm sold on Vitamin D.

I don't know if there has been any research on smoking vrs colds but as a past smoker, I would get a BAD cold at least 4 times a year. Since quiting 25 years ago, my cold rate has dropped to less than 1 every few years.

I may get the 'sniffels' now and then but my last BAD cold was more then 4 years ago. Just my thoughts.

"Fresh" bread is still the number one vector for influenza.

Any mixture of yeast and flour is a deadly concoction.

Back during the days of bubonic plague the misinformers refused to

say anything about fleas lice and ticks.

Today it is white washing yeast.

Yeast can carry doazens of other deadly diseases as well.

I have never had a problem sleeping and I have never had many colds. However, During the last 2.5 years I have experienced a drastic change in my sleep patterns ( I became pregnant with my second child when my first was 9 months). I get an average of about 4 hours a night. I have never been so sick. I never realized how dramatically sleep deprivation can effect your health. My little sleep bandits have settled down over the last two months and predictably, I haven't had a cold in about 4 weeks.
