Yes, there are physiological predispositions, but other factors are significant: for example, girls and women playing in boots designed for men which are often too wide, producing unstable unteractions with playing surfaces; girls and women toughing it out when in pain and regularly denying injury (so they avoid going to a physio when in pain in order to keep playing). In addition, ACL tears are unpredictable - do the same thing 100 times and nothing tears; on the 101st there is a tear.
