My sister recently had a sentinel lymph node removed to check for breast cancer (she found a cancerous tumor), and the surgeon said her lymph node was completely black because of a large tattoo on her forearm. Fortunately, the node was cancer-free, but that piece of information has forever changed the way I view tattoos.

All of the information above is well informed and I myself greatly appreciate the information. BUT, leaving out the population of people whom have/get tattoos that are edjuated about the risks, plan and consider the pros and cons, and seek out businesses that can show/prove their cleanliness and precautions only fuels the fire further for people searching to fuel the fire and can give them a false comfort on their journey through taking more distance between themselves and the loved one(s) with tattoos

We don't care what you do to your bodies, except, we have to look at this crap on your bodies especially 20-30 years later when it's shrink wrap (ick).

And, when an infection or allerigic reaction sets in---another strain on the health care system for what, because I have to express myself as human being. I do care about that, because it effects everyone in higher health care costs.

Tattos are for three type of speople:

1. The military, they need to express, they may see death soon.

2. Bikers, not weekend glory bikers. The real deal bikers, they live and sleep on the things for Csakes.

3. Tribes- ancient tribes where a tatto has ritual meaning and identification, a rite of passage. ie. The Amazon etc.

So, if you don't fit this criteria, skip in the ink, you will probably be removing it anyway in 20-30 years.

I found the article to be unbiased. I have two tattoos and took no offense to this information. I am having one tattoo removed with yellow and red ink and was not told about the dangers of possible carcinogens being spread throughout my body by the doctor. In fact, he said their were no health risks attached. I will be brinking this articles information to his attention.

about what OTHER people do to THEIR bodies? Frankly I don’t give a damn what others do with theirs, because I have better things to do.

some of you are pathetic and like to talk out of your rears.

I am completely fine in accepting others people opinions, even if they differ from mine, but please back up your crap with some form of credibility!

Most of ya'll with an opposing views of tattoos are spouting off things that make no sense and have no validity due to lack of experience/knowledge and HATE.

And it regards to this Author: I believe if you are going to write something about a certain topic, you should play to both sides so that you are FULLY educating people on the subject rather than providing a biased view.

I don't understand all the hype about a tattoo. You must be 18 in most states. It's a personal choice and I would hope for a good reason other than it looks nice.

you sound like a real whiney bitch. Its funny how a person with no expeience of the tattoo industry can be such an expert. why do you care what others do so much with thier bodies?
