My exhusband drove across the state line of Georgia to Alabama so my minor daughter age 16 could get a tattoo. It is against the law in Georgia until you are age 18. So they drove 3 hours to a tattoo studio and 3 hours back to Georgia .The tattoo reads "forever a piece of me". Her 26 year old sister and she got the same tattoo and they say that the saying is in ase one of them ever die they have a piece of them. HUH???? This makes no sense to me and to me I can only imagine what young men and teenagers are going to comment. Your thoughts?

Tattoos may be apart of the society today, but doesn't that mean the risks are too? It just can't be ignored like some trash out on the sidewalk stinking up the neighborhood. It may seem to effect only the ones who chose to get a tattoo, but in the end it effects everyone who loves that person, because that person could be at risk of infection. They are regretted in the future anyways, so why get them while you still might have the chance of deciding never to get one in the first place? I may have my moments of wanting one, but I realize that I can express what I love to do, whom I love and care for in many other ways.

Tattoos are apart of life today, so we should just ignore the fact that people have them

Some people like peanut butter and tuna sandwiches.
Some people like tattoos.
Get over it.

Quis of SC - can you please tell me the advantages of having a tattoo that no one can see? Especially when you consider the expense. So, OK, people will see it when you're on the beach or at the pool but is that enough for an egotist or exhibitionist? I'm afraid that like smokers, people with, or intending to get, tattoos will ignore the health risks and argue their right to have them. OK, they don't harm anyone like passive smoking does but their regret may turn out to be just as great as the smoker that started smoking!

I am having a great deal of argumentative response from young ladies who have had tattoos. Not only do I and a number of other people dislike them, not because they aren't decorative or artistic, but because they are generally unsightly, some even offensive. Furthermore they are often later regretted and painful and expensive to remove. They say their employers do not object but just let them try applying for another job they desperately would like to obtain where the employer does object. It can and does happen I'm afraid. There are in fact certain jobs that actually prohibit visible tattoos. Time these youngsters realised that to look 'different' they have to differ from their peers and tattoos are quickly becoming the 'norm' unfortunately.

I honestly love tattoos. Every tattoo is art they all have a meaning behind them. Before I read this article, it made me think about reconsidering my mind on getting tatted. It will impact me for the rest of my life there permanent, risky, and can hinder me from getting a job. Society make tattoos become a trend “everyone has one”, this impacts on more people being at risk. The side-effects that come with tattoos is terribly too much to adjust. I know tattoos can harm the skin and uncleaned needles can cause transmitted HIV. But I never knew the ink was toxic and not for human injections. This topic takes it to another level in many ways, this is very harmful. I have family members with tattoos and to know they're at risk scares me. Dangerous, cancer, toxic, expensive to remove and not able to get a MRI scan caught my attention in the article and more. Words I felt that was needed to define in the article were melanomas, HIV, epidermis and many more. Before thinking about getting a tattoo, it takes a lot of research and commitment. I’m not against tattoos but not for me!

I have several cronic health conditions, and my doctor recomended that I not get any tattoos for MRI reasons and if for some reason an injection is ever needed in the partcular location that my tattoos . Tattoos contain dangerous materials and will be on you forever: even when your old and wrinkly! and it is very bad for keeping lucious skin for a long time to come! If you feel the need to represent something meaningful, you don't have to do it on your body. There are many ways to cherrish a new child or a lost love one. But if you do choose to do so, make sure it is something very importaint to you, make sure it is done by a well trained artist, not anywhere too obvious or vulgur, and the size is relatively moderate. Those are my tips. Think it through thoroughly! Self-expression can be done through soo many millions of other ways.Save your skin and think before you ink!
