Is there a version of the DASH diet that would be helpful for persons with taste buds that grew up on East Asian/Southeast Asian flavors?

I too am a little leery of the high carb content in this diet. Low fat on a package means added sugar; not a good choice for diabetics for sure.

And hasn't the margarine over butter myth been debunked? I think sweet butter is a better alternative to hydrolyzed oil spread (yuck). Simply taking processed foods out of the equation can make a huge difference but if you come from a bloodline like mean it doesn't make that much of a dent; I haven't eaten a mammal in over 30 years but was diagnosed hypertensive at the age of 46!!

As a diabetic this sample menu has way too many carbs for me. Particularly in the morning. My BG would go up too much if I had the breakfast suggeted here.

Someone needs to estimate values for beans, legumes, grains - otherwise, this looks like too much to eat at times.
